The current VW Crafter model has already achieved EEV (Enhanced Environmentally Friendly Vehicle) status with its range of five-cylinder, Euro5 2.5-litre BlueTDI engines but Volkswagen further improves the van’s environmental credentials with the introduction of the smaller diesel unit.
Already used in the Amarok pick-up, Caddy and Transporter, the 2.0 TDI engine has proven its capability in the LCV world, will set new class standards for emissions and running costs. Initial testing has suggested that the new Crafter could produce emissions as low as 195g/km of CO2.Running costs could also be reduced by up to 25% thanks to better fuel consumption and lower servicing costs.
Apart from the new engine, the latest VW Crafter will be distinguishable from older models thanks to a revised front grille, while inside the cabin you can expect new upholstery and redesigned dash.
The Crafter is already great to drive, has plenty of carrying ability with good environmental credentials, so enhancements to running costs and payloads are guaranteed to prove very attractive.
